Abstract

Fencing training requires quick movements forward, backward, and sideways from a ready position where the front foot is pointed forward and the back foot is pointed sideways, with the knees bent. This technique causes unequal force distribution on the feet, leading to pressure on the outside or inside of the foot, the instep, or the heel. Consequently, this results in an imbalance of force on the ankle, which can cause injuries to the learner or beginner in the sport of fencing, or weakness in a specific part or side at the expense of another part or side of the lower limbs. Therefore, researchers have sought to find a method to measure and develop the balance of force in the lower limbs of fencing learners, which provides stability in strength and balance during advancement and retreat. The experimental method of a single group with pre-test and post-test was used on a randomly selected sample of (15) female students. After completing the design and manufacturing of the device, a pilot experiment was conducted followed by pre-tests for forward and backward movements. The force was greater on the front foot during forward movements and less during backward movements and vice versa for the back foot. This indicates a weakness in the balance of muscular strength of the legs during forward and backward movements. Therefore, exercises were prepared to develop the balance of strength during forward and backward movements for the experimental research sample at the beginning of the main section of the educational unit, with a performance time of 15 minutes. After applying the strength balance exercises using the manufactured device, an equal balance of force exerted on the front and back foot was observed during forward and backward movements in the post-tests. This indicates a balance in the muscular strength of the legs during these movements. Additionally, the manufactured device has proven its ability and efficiency in measuring and developing the muscular strength balance of the lower limbs in fencing. Therefore, it is recommended to use the device in training and measuring the strength balance of the lower limbs in other sports.
