Plyometrics, basic defensive skills, for soccer goalkeepersAbstract
In this research, the researcher attempts to study the impact of explosive strength exercises on the development of basic defensive skills for goalkeepers in football, specifically (the skill of catching high balls above the head, the skill of punching the ball and its dimensions outside the penalty area to a distance, the skill of saving and catching rolling ground balls from the front and sides (right and left), the skill of catching and saving medium-height balls from the front and sides (right and left)). Since developing explosive strength can be achieved through various methods, it is possible that plyometric exercises (various jumps, i.e., deep jump exercises) might be effective. The best training method to improve it, which can provide the necessary benefits for football goalkeepers to enhance their skills. The results of this research will give our coach a better ability to distribute the training load during training periods throughout the annual program, thereby improving the skill level towards the better through the use of appropriate training methods and techniques. In light of this, the researcher called for the preparation of exercises that can be utilized in the training process and their reflection on matches by exploiting the goalkeeper's physical and skillful abilities and investing in this development to achieve better results based on scientific principles. The research aimed to:
1. Prepare plyometric exercises based on varied deep jumps to develop the basic skills of football goalkeepers.
2. Identify the impact of plyometric exercises based on varied deep jumps on the development of the basic skills of football goalkeepers. The researcher hypothesized the following:
1. There are significant differences between the pre-test and post-test results of the defensive basic skills of the football goalkeepers under study, in favor of the post-test results for the research sample. The researcher concluded the following:Morally, the results of the basic defensive skills improved positively
- The plyometric exercises (deep jumps) had an impact. For the goalkeepers in football under study among the research sample.
- The number of training units in which the exercises prepared by the researcher were implemented was appropriate for the research sample and suitable for developing the basic defensive skills of the goalkeepers in football under study (high ball catching skill above the crossbar, ball punching and clearing it outside the penalty area to a distance, skill of stopping and catching rolling ground balls from the front and sides (right and left), skill of catching and stopping medium-height balls from the front and sides (right and left)).
