Abstract

Understanding the nature of the sports event in all its aspects through precise scientific analysis necessitates that experts and specialists choose the methods and training techniques capable of elevating the players' levels and preparing them for competitions. Quick strength exercises are among the modern training patterns that rely on the combination of speed and maximum strength exercises. They can be implemented using various training methods such as ballistic training and plyometric training, as well as weight training methods. These are the most suitable for optimal preparation for Taekwondo championships, in line with the changes that have occurred in its competition system, and they can be used in the stages of special preparation, pre-competition, and during the preparation phase. For competitions in camps and intensive programs. The importance of the research lies in using speed strength exercises, which are a modern training style that meets the needs of taekwondo players in preparing for local and international official competitions. The research aimed to:

1. Prepare a program of speed strength exercises that aligns with the capabilities of the research sample.

2. Identify the impact of speed strength exercises on the strength and speed of some skills of taekwondo players. The researcher used the experimental method (one-group design) as it is suitable for solving the research problem, and the research was applied to a sample of advanced taekwondo players at the Al-Arabi Sports Club/Baghdad, numbering (16) players aged (18–22 years). They represent the eight weight categories with (2) players for each weight. The researcher used the electronic device approved by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) for measuring strength, and standardized tests for measuring the speed of skill performance in taekwondo. The training program was initiated on Sunday, 2021/5/2, and concluded on Thursday, 2021/6/17, with a total of (32) training units distributed over (8) weeks, with (4) units each week. Speed strength exercises were used, which included exercises for explosive and ballistic strength training methods. And the plyometric exercises in addition to the extreme strength exercises. Among the most important results reached by the researcher were:

-1 The rapid power exercises contributed to the development of strength and speed in the performance of Taekwondo players' skills.

-2 The variety of training methods used in the training program according to the rapid power exercise pattern increased the effectiveness of training, shortened the time, and achieved the athletic form.

-3 The rapid power exercise pattern is the most appropriate for use during training camps or in the pre-competition phase.
