Abstract

The research aimed to identify the differences in some physical and motor abilities of middle school students, as well as the differences in some physical and motor abilities between students of each grade and the grade that follows, starting from the first intermediate grade to the third intermediate grade. The researchers used the descriptive method with an analytical study approach, and the research sample consisted of 120 students from the secondary school in the Shoura district, south of Mosul, from the first, second, and third intermediate grades. The researchers also used the following physical and motor ability tests: a 20-meter sprint from a standing start to measure transitional speed, a two-legged hop (one leg at a time) over a distance of 10 meters to measure the explosive strength of the leg muscles, and a zigzag run between markers to measure agility.Agility, trunk flexion test from a long sitting position to measure spinal flexibility and the muscles behind the legs, and the numbered circles test to measure coordination. The researchers used the SPSS program to extract the following statistical methods for data processing: mean, standard deviation, simple correlation coefficient (Pearson), percentage, and t-test for two independent means. The researchers reached the following conclusions: 1. The students of each grade and the grade following it improved in the 20-meter run test from a high starting point related to transitional speed and the right leg hop test for 10 meters related to speed strength. And the agility test and the trunk flexion test from a long sitting position, which is specific to flexibility testing. -2 There is no development in physical and motor abilities (speed strength of the left leg) between the students of each class and the following class in the left leg hop test.
