Social control and its role in regulating deviant behavior among students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University

This study aimed to identify social control and its role in regulating deviant behavior among students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University, and to identify the differences in the role of social control in regulating deviant behavior among students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University according to the study variables (gender, academic major, cumulative GPA, place of residence). The researchers used the descriptive method to suit the nature of this study, and the study sample was selected using the simple random method, consisting of 100 male and female students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University enrolled in the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021.The questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection, and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the results. The results showed that the level of social control and its role in regulating deviant behavior among students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University was high. There were no differences in social control and its role in regulating deviant behavior among students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Mu'tah University according to the study variables (gender, place of residence, cumulative GPA, major), but there were differences in the academic year variable in favor of the third year. The researchers recommended strengthening the relationship among community members through cultural exchange among individuals.
