Abstract

This research aimed to identify the relationship between the level of physical activity and mental state during the COVID-19 pandemic in Iraq, through what is broadcast and published in various sports programs and what is written in print and electronic sports media and specialized platforms. The researchers used the descriptive method due to its suitability for the nature of the problem in order to achieve the objectives, by using several data collection tools in scientific research, after reviewing theoretical studies and previous studies on the COVID-19 pandemic from official and unofficial sites and blogs, and reviewing articles and news, and designing an initial questionnaire and presenting it to a number of specialists and experts, and after reviewing the specialists' observations. The experts designed the final version of the questionnaire and uploaded it via Google Forms, sharing it on social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter). After reviewing the responses on the Google platform, more than 85 users interacted and filled out the questionnaire. The analysis was then extracted from the Google platform to the computer and attached to the research. Among the most important results reached by the researchers are the following:

1. There is a significant correlation between mental state and the level of daily physical activity among the research sample.

2. The mental state records better results as the level of physical activity increases.

3. It was found that there are statistically significant differences in the mental state index according to the variable of physical activity level. The higher the daily physical activity level, the higher the mental state index, compared to moderate and low physical activity.

4. It was found that the moderate physical activity level did not differ from the low physical activity level. Researchers recommend the following: Emphasizing the importance of daily physical activity in enhancing the mental state.
