Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the response of some functional variables to the speed test performance of first-degree football referees. The researchers used the descriptive method due to its suitability and nature of the research. The research community consisted of football referees in Nineveh Governorate for the sports season (2018-2019), totaling (18) referees. The research sample was selected intentionally, including first-degree field referees accredited in the records of the Central Referees Committee of the Iraqi Football Association, totaling (6) field referees, representing (33.33%) of the original community. The researchers reached the following conclusions:

1. The performance of the (speed) test for field referees has a clear effect on the variables (VE, TV, and RR) compared to rest time.

-2 The performance of the (speed) test for field referees has a clear effect on the heart rate (HR) variable compared to rest time.  The researchers recommended the following:

-1 The researchers recommend that fitness trainers for referees take into account the results reached by the researchers in preparing training programs in accordance with functional variables.

-2 The researchers recommend that fitness trainers for referees measure the heart rate (HR) to identifyThe development occurring in the circulatory system and understanding the loads on the assistant referee and directing them in a way that serves the training curriculum, through distributing the intensity of training based on the pulse.

The researchers recommend that coaches provide physical exercises that increase the strength and flexibility of the intercostal muscles, diaphragm, and abdominal muscles to enhance the respiratory capacity of field referees.
